Key Project Details

The Challenge
The existing single glazed windows and doors had become inefficient over time, resulting in heat loss, draughts and a tired external appearance. The homeowners wanted replacements that would significantly improve comfort without introducing a design that felt out of place on a Victorian terrace.
Flush casement windows were selected to provide a clean, refined appearance while remaining sympathetic to the property’s proportions. The challenge was to ensure the new timber windows and doors enhanced the home visually while delivering modern levels of insulation and performance.

Glazing & Frame Specification
The windows and French doors were fitted with double-glazed units, with toughened glass specified where safety regulations applied. This glazing significantly improved thermal performance, helping to reduce heat loss and eliminate draughts throughout the property. As well as secure multipoint locking to significantly improve the security of the property at the same time.
All the timber windows and doors were finished with a durable microporous paint system, allowing the timber to breathe while protecting it from moisture ingress and UV exposure. This ensures long-term performance with minimal maintenance.

Installation was completed over eight days by a two-person crew, with work carefully planned to minimise disruption. Each window and door was installed, aligned and sealed to ensure smooth operation and effective weatherproofing.
Final checks were carried out on site to confirm airtightness, consistent sightlines and a uniform external appearance across all elevations prior to leaving the site to ensure no revisit would be required.
The Results
The completed installation delivered a noticeable improvement in both comfort and appearance. The homeowners now benefit from warmer rooms, no draughts and improved energy efficiency. Externally, the new flush casement windows and French doors provide a huge visual uplift, refreshing the property while remaining in keeping with its Victorian character.
The French doors also improved the connection between the interior living spaces and the garden, enhancing usability and natural light.
