Glazing & Frame Specification
The timber windows were fitted with modern double-glazed units selected to suit the flush casement design. The glazing improves thermal efficiency and reduces heat loss, helping to make the new extension one of the most comfortable areas of the home.
All timber windows and doors were finished with a durable microporous paint system, allowing the timber to breathe while protecting it from moisture ingress and UV exposure. This finish supports long service life with straightforward infrequent ongoing maintenance.

Installation for the oak frame extension was carried out by a three-person crew, working in coordination with other trades on site. The programme was carefully planned to minimise disruption whilst maintaining a high standard of finish throughout the oak frame extension project.
Each window was carefully aligned and sealed to ensure smooth operation, airtightness and visual consistency across all elevations of the oak frame extension. Final checks were completed on site to confirm functionality, finish quality and overall appearance in line with the architectural design.
The Results
The completed oak framed extension became the warmest and most comfortable part of the house, with significantly morenatural light and high thermal performance.
Externally, the flush casement windows provide a refined, contemporary look that integrates seamlessly with the Victorian property. Internally, the combination of timber windows and doors within the oak frame extension and modern glazing creates a bright, comfortable living environment without compromising character.

Common Homeowner Questions
How long does a typical timber window installation take?
Installation times vary depending on scope and size, but most residential projects are completed within one to two weeks.
Are timber flush casement windows energy efficient?
Yes. When combined with modern double glazing and draught proofing, timber casement windows offer excellent thermal performance, even better performance than new uPVC and aluminium windows.
Can flush casement windows be used on period properties?
Yes. Flush casements can work well on period homes when proportions, materials and detailing are carefully considered. Typically these are the profile originally in place other than coastal areas which would have had a stormproof design.
Do timber windows require a lot of maintenance?
No. Modern factory-applied microporous finishes significantly reduce maintenance requirements.
Can the design be customised?
Yes. All windows are made to measure, allowing flexibility in sizing, configuration and finish.
